Join Julia Pfaff on Saturday, October 18th from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM for a VMFA special workshop at Arts on Main!
In this fast-moving workshop, you will learn a quick contemporary construction technique guaranteed to expand your quilting abilities. Foundation quilting yields immediate finished results by combining piecing and quilting. This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced quilters alike. Several samples suitable as small wall hangings or pillow tops will be made during the workshop.
Sewing machines will be available for those who don’t have one, but if you do have a sewing machine, please bring it with you! Fabric will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric if you have it.

This program has been organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is funded, in part, by the Paul Mellon Endowment and the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Julia E. Pfaff is a recipient of a 2019-2020 Professional Artist Fellowship from the Virginian Museum of Fine art and an Individual Artist’s Fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. With an undergraduate degree in Art History from the University of Toronto and a Master of Fine Art degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, she divides her time between being an educator and studio artist. Pfaff has been quilting her entire life and has successfully turned a family tradition into a contemporary art form. Her quilts have been exhibited extensively and can be found in numerous national collections and publications.
