Collage Technique using Paper to Render a Representational Image

Join Caroline Garrett Hardy on Saturday, October 5th from 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM for a Collage Workshop at Arts on Main

This workshop will show you how to create a “Painting with Paper” using a collage technique for rendering a representational image. We will discuss the choice of subjects and an explanation of the process. First, you will trace your image onto our backing. The instructor provides your substrate. Then we discuss a color scheme, choosing your papers, and adhesives. There are many possibilities for creating the shapes you will use. e.g; cutting with scissors, tearing or ripping the paper, using an exact-o knife. A combination works well. During the first two-hour session of the workshop, we will lay out our projects and work with the underneath layers of the paper, then start building up. After lunch, we will continue layering papers and refining the work. Around 3pm, we will “show and tell” with advice and/or encouragement.

Students are asked to bring their own supplies. Please do not purchase supplies until you have received an email/call from Arts on Main confirming that the workshop is happening.
